To All Federation Nation Members:

As the State Classic just wrapped up on Onondaga, I wanted to write a quick note of thanks to all the individuals that make the state tournaments possible.  It takes a lot of hard work and dedication behind the scenes to run a successful event.  This tournament had several obstacles but my tournament team worked endlessly to put on a successful and safe event. Zak Marinkov (did not even fish the tournament), George Marinkov (also did not fish the tournament), and Ralph Kimmel did a great job with the tournament meeting, checking boats in, and the weigh-in.  The weigh-in went smooth on both days and was completed within 30 minutes after the last boat checked-in.  Wayne Proctor went out of his way to get the trophies for the tournament and ensured that they made it to the tournament site.

Next, a special thanks goes out to Gary Lopez, John Dalessandro, Jimmy Adams, and Pete Carolin.  Gary Lopez is the Director of the park at Oneida shores and suggested and coordinated the move to Onondaga State Park.  He knew that the wind was going to possibly make Oneida unsafe and did not want to see the PA Bass Federation Nation not accomplish their task of putting on a great tournament.  John Dalessandro is the Harbor Master on Onondaga and made the quick arrangements for the move to Onondaga.  Jimmy Adams of Boat, Fish, and Fun (http://www.boatfishfun.com/ ) helped explain and fix a problem over the phone that might have held one of the boats out of the competition on day 2.  Jimmy has always been there for the Federation and has helped get many anglers back on the water in a quick manner.  Finally, Brinson Marine owner Pete Carolin stayed after hours to get a boat repaired and ready for day 2.  He could have not been anymore accommodating to the angler.  If you live near New York or need help with a Mercury Motor while in Central New York, you can contact Brinson Marine at (315) 469-4867.

Another thing that made this a special event was the great sponsors that the Federation has gained.  They provided many prizes that participants were able to win at the meeting.  Motor Guide and Mercury provide the Federation with great discounts on many items.  The discounts allowed the Federation to give away a Motor Guide Trolling Motor, a Mercury Prop, and 3 gallons of Mercury oil. Thump Plastics (http://www.thumpsoftplastics.com/) also provided some great plastics that many anglers won at the meeting.  Please support these great companies and check out their tackle!

Congratulations to Darin Doll for winning and having a great tournament!  Darin won by over 2 pounds and for his effort earned a free classic berth for next year’s State Classic and will be the caption of next year’s Divisional Team. Also, a congratulations goes out to the top 13 participants for working hard in tough conditions and earning a spot on the Divisional Team!  Thanks to all participants for participating in the tournament!  It was truly an accomplishment just to make this year’s Classic!  If you have any questions or concerns about the tournament, please contact me at kimmel65@hotmail.com.

Sincerely,

To All Pa Bass Federation Nation Members:

I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and is ready to get back on the water.  Just a reminder, all tournament applications can start being sent in on February 14th.  If you are planning on sending in with a guaranteed boater or rider, it would be greatly appreciated if you send both applications in the same envelope.  If you don’t have a guaranteed boater or rider, it is highly recommended that you get your applications in as soon as possible.  Applications without a guarantee will be placed in order based off of the post-marked date on the envelope.  There will be a strict two-week cutoff before each of the statewide tournaments.

If you have not looked at the new format, please take a few minutes to review over the new format.  The road to the classic link on the website provides a great overview of the new format.  It should be an exciting year and the payouts will be better than ever.  For both of the statewide tournaments (Flats and Southside), first place will be $3000 if we get one hundred participants.  Also, the new format will be paying out the top three riders for each of the statewide tournaments (They will also be eligible for the main pot).  If you have any questions, you can contact me at kimmel65@hotmail.com.  Get your tackle ready and see you on the water in a few months!

Sincerely,
